Hello all!  My name is Laura Goldstein,  I am one of the group exercise instructors here at Yoga Sakti. This year has been quite the experience for me. It was my first year ever competing in the fitness field as a natural figure competitor.  It was an amazing experience both physically and mentally.
I did five competitions and placed within the top five at every competition. I took first place and won my WNBF Pro Card at my most recent competition which now eliminates me from competing at the amateur level.

Diet and training were extremely crucial for this new avenue, but not impossible. I really enjoyed challenging myself with new workouts and cardio regimens. I actually had to cut back my cardio to prevent myself from burning muscle. On average my workout regimen throughout my prep was split in to two sessions per day. I  would do 30 minutes of HIIT cardio on an empty stomach. Then later in the afternoon after having several meals to give me plenty of energyI would lift weights for approximately an hour.   Many believe the myth that you're suppose to starve yourself during competition prep, but it is far from true. I still ate six times a day, but all natural unprocessed foods. I averaged about 1800 calories per day. Competition prep usually lasts about 3 months, If I can do it anyone can do it!

Strength and conditioning has always been a passion of mine and I would love to share my knowledge amongst the members of Yoga Sakti with the launch an early morning new muscle conditioning class.

Now join Laura on Monday morning's 6:30 - 7:15 am,  and Train Like a Pro in her Sculpt & Tone Class.
